Conductive Development
Conductive pedagogy is a developmental method for the rehabilitation of people with mobility impairments due to damage to the central nervous system. Its basic assumption is that in spite of the existing condition, the body still has reserves when it comes to the possibility of building new neuronal connections, and that these reserves can be activated by using specialized learning and teaching strategies.
The method aims to help children develop the greatest possible independence and to improve their learning skills using rhythmic intention, which helps them consciously initiate movement through the practice of playful tasks.
Prior to individual developmental sessions and group entry, the child undergoes a conductive assessment. After that, a personal development plan is put together, based on which a list of exercises appropriate to the child’s age characteristics and abilities can be compiled. The main goal of the beginner’s group is for the children to master the basic movement patterns first in the supine and then in the sitting position, while the advanced group lays the groundwork for standing up and walking starting from a sitting position, as well as solving individual standing and walking tasks.
